What is NDVI?
The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is a simple numerical indicator that can be used to analyze remote sensing measurements and assess whether the target being observed contains live green vegetation or not. The reason NDVI is related to vegetation is that healthy vegetation reflects very well in the near infrared part of the spectrum. NDVI provides a crude estimate of vegetation health and a means of monitoring changes in vegetation over time.
